We’re dashing through the asphalt / on a one-man, keg-carrying forklift / o’er the broken streets of Brooklyn we go / laughing all the way! Happy holidays, everyone. We hope you enjoy it over a pint of the good stuff.
We have much to look forward to and feel blessed for this holiday season at Sixpoint. For our annual staff holiday dinner, we broke in an almost-complete new kitchen in the upstairs room of the Red Hook brewery. There, we passed around pitchers of newly brewed beers, and dined on beer cheese potatoes made with brewer Pete’s stout, spent grain rolls, ice cream infused with chocolate rye malt, smoked salmon puff pastries and other hors d’oeuvres made by Jersey Dan — as well as maple-smoked hams from Tamarack Hollow Farm. Laughing all the way, indeed.
Many of us have begun to brew beers for the next Beer For Beasts festival on March 31, 2012. A new Mad Scientists brew (#8) is being concocted very soon, as the Cranberry Porter makes its rounds at bars, Spice of Life #6 Centennial is pouring at franny’s, and we will have a new beer series to announce in the New Year.
But before all that excitement begins, we’re looking forward right now to spending some more time with friends and family and getting into the giving spirit. Here are some of the staffers at Sixpoint’s answers to the question, “What do you want to see in your stocking?”
Ian: J. W. Lees Harvest Ale from 1997
Jan: Some tasting glasses
Sean: Boxing gloves
Shane: A puppy from a shelter
Pete: Interesting beers, and chocolate
Kristen: A chunky knit scarf and hat, and anything from Kiehl’s
Joe: White chocolate with macadamia nuts, and cheese
Sara: A Starbucks gift certificate
Cathy: A goose to cook with that night
Let’s hope our wishes — as well as yours — are answered. Happy holidays!
