Update: Tickets on sale now at http://beerforbeasts.com/ Respect Beer. There is more to beer than beer. Beer is Culture. Sixpoint and BeerAdvocate’s slogans epitomize the same idea—that this drink, with all its heritage, and the grand effects it has had on humans through history, is not one to water down, render tasteless or allow to stagnate. Rather, its creators must be innovative and their product cherished. Beer has changed the shape of society, propelled and at times necessitated agriculture, eased social tension and raised spirits for thousands of years. Collaboration between like minds, with like goals, is a natural result.
Beer for Beasts is a celebration of this shared mindset, alongside a further collaboration with the Humane Society of New York, to care for the city’s pets. The third annual event, hosted by BeerAdvocate and Sixpoint Brewery, is on Saturday, April 6th, at the Bell House in Brooklyn. It features 25 custom brews that will only ever be served at this event; beers which commemorate Sixpoint’s homebrewing roots and utilize Mad Scientist ingenuity. Some of New York City’s best food vendors will be there, along with stand-up comedians and music selections from deejay “Chances with Wolves,” who performed at Beer for Beasts 1 and 2, and were met with rave reviews. It’s a huge collaboration that brings out divergent parts of the community, united in purpose. As Shane Welch says, “when you combine raw creativity with good intentions, the positive outcome is boundless.”
Tickets go on sale March 1st, so be ready, numbers are finite and sell out quickly.
And remember, as BeerAdvocate co-founder Todd Alstrom points out, “Beer for Beasts is not just another beer festival. It’s a celebration of things we love and a fundraiser for those that show us unconditional love.”
