Deer Tick at Brooklyn Bowl: Beer Tick

deertick10

deertickedit3SHARP

We’ve crafted a new small-batch brew, “Beer Tick,” as part of a concert series with one of our favorite bands at one of our favorite venues. Starting the day after Christmas, Deer Tick is going to be jamming at Brooklyn Bowl for six straight nights, finishing with a grand finale on New Year’s Eve. The concerts celebrate their 10 year anniversary, and we’ll be serving up zesty, frothy Beer Tick at all of them. These aren’t just normal concerts either – they’ll be performing whole albums from some of their favorite artists, and there will be a host of special guests!  More »

Respect the Cask

Heather McReynolds, Brewing Manager, is shaking a cask, and reaching in to pull out a rotting bag of once-fresh hops. The cask came from another brewery, then got here from our distributor. The hops are old, they’ve been in there for a while, and they smell.

“I sometimes feel like cask ale is the Rodney Dangerfield of the beer scene…. no respect.” More »

The Mad Science of Session Drinking

IMG_2416

Questions of definition dominate the “Session Beer” conversation… putting aside the debate over ABV, let’s talk about the session itself. In this discussion, we’ll avoid the term “session beer” entirely.

As diverse, full flavored beers increasingly become the norm, balancing those many powerful flavors over an extended pub session becomes a practice worth considering. There is certainly some strategy, and a bit of art to the whole thing. More »

RESIN Now in Six-Packs

blog-resin-sixpack-cans

RESIN is our liquid ode to hop extraction. It’s the original Mad Scientists’ slim can, and we’re pumped to announce that it’s now in six-packs. The updated look reflects subtle, incremental changes we’ve made to the formulation during our endless search to improve the brew over the past 2 years. The six-pack is complementary to the other Sixpoint six-packs on the market, and features our distinctive design.

Starting December 26th through New Year's Eve, we are helping Deer Tick celebrate 10 years of aural ecstasy with 6 nights of seat-of-your-pant extravaganzas featuring special guests and covers of entire albums from NRBQ to Lou Reed to Elvis Costello and the Attractions. It culminates with an all fan requested setlist on New Year's Eve!

To help celebrate, we concocted Beer Tick, a 5.2 percent rice and malt based ale with just a hint of orange zest and delicate hops to make a beer as slammable and eclectic as the band itself. It will only be available for these shows and it will stand in solidarity with Sweet Action and Crisp flanking the Bowl's taps.

Eat drink, be merry, and oh, yea, click here to get your tickets lest ye be disappointed that you didn't get one of the 50 tickets available at the door on show nights.
