Jammer Gose Stories IV: Beer Cocktails

You might know about our “tweaking” process with Jammer, as we work to dial in the various flavor components. But Jammer is also probably the beer we have the most fun experimenting with after we brew it. It’s just so versatile.

And the experimentation doesn’t have to stop with the brewing process. We’re all about Mad Science, so we’re pumped to see people putting together some killer concoctions. And of course we’re getting in on the action. For your convenience, we’ve broken the Mad Science into three tiers of difficulty. Check it out:

Level I: Get Your Toes Wet

Sweet n Sour Jammin’ade
2 oz vodka (or tequila, we prefer tequila)
1 oz simple syrup
Juice of 1 large lemon
12 oz Jammer
Mint leaves (optional)
Frozen Blueberries (optional)

Drink in the morning

Level II: Wadin’ In

Recipe via Pizza Moto

Jammer Jandy
1 ½ oz Irish Whiskey
8 oz Frozen Lemonade Slushie
Top with Jammer in Pint Glass

Jammer Julep
2 oz Bourbon
2 oz simple syrup
4 mint leaves
Crushed Ice

Muddle mint and simple syrup
Fill glass with bourbon, ice, simple syrup and mint
Stir until well frosted
Top with Jammer and mint leaf garnish

Camp-Jam by Ezekial at Northern Territory

¾ oz Hendricks
¾ oz Carpano Antica
¾ oz OJ
Shaken and strained in a highball, topped with Jammer

Level III: Take the Plunge!

The Clockwork Reconditioning

2oz High West Double Rye
.75oz Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple
.75oz Lemon
.5oz New Holland’s Clockwork Orange (Spiced orange liqueur whose bright flavors contribute to cocktails with deliciously restrained sweetness.)
Expression of orange into the shaker
1 Egg white

Vigorous dry shake (to shake without ice) for 10 seconds. Add ice and shake again (the wet shake).

Strain into a 10oz Highball without ice and top with JAMMER.

2oz Parce Aged 8yr rum
1oz lime
.75oz Simple Syrup (preferably Demerara Sugar)
.25oz Luxardo

Shake/strain into tumbler filled halfway with ice. Top with JAMMER.

The Icelandic Honey Badger

2oz Reyka Strawberry-jalapeno Infused Vodka
.75oz Lemon
.75oz Hibiscus syrup
.5oz Bittermen’s Citron Sauvage (a slightly smokey grapefruit aperitif)
1 Egg white

Vigorous dry shake (to shake without ice) for 10 seconds.  Add ice and shake again (the wet shake).

Strain into a 10oz Highball without ice and top with JAMMER.

Pro Tips:

1) Remember that these drinks are finished/topped up with beer for a reason — you don’t want to put beer in a shaker, or you’ll have a serious mess on your hands.

2) Ice creates nucleation points to bring carbonation out of solution

3) Acidic juices will mess with head retention

So your bubbles flow out of your cocktail and get zapped. The solution?

4) Keep your Jammer ice cold (colder beverages can hold more CO2)

5) Pour gently down the side to keep that carbonation where it belongs: in yur damn drink.
