Inside the brewing of Sixpoint’s Mad Scientists’ series #14 Grätzer. Brewmaster Jan Matysiak and head brewer Pete Dickson share about investigating and creating the rare smoked-wheat brew.
Three companies in Brooklyn join forces on an ambitious new brewing project amidst the challenges of Hurricane Sandy.
Travel with the Sixpoint Crew around Bavaria, Germany to some of the oldest breweries in the world, and discover the essence of Bavarian style wheat beer, and learn what makes it so refreshing and thirst-quenching.
Sixpoint breaks down the science of the flavor you crave from an IPA — resin. The first beer to be offered in slim, 12 oz. cans, Resin is a burst of golden sap from the center of the hop cones, at peak maturity. Sixpoint Brewmaster Jan Matysiak explains the pursuit of the daring balance between Resin’s extreme 103 IBU hop bitterness and 9.1% ABV profile, all while exploring the roots of nature’s inseparable bond between fire and flavor.
Travel to Yakima Valley to capture the bounty of the hop harvest season. Autumnation, Sixpoint’s fall seasonal beer variety in cans, is an ode to this crisp and fragrant time of year, when hop cones can be added fresh to “wet-hop” beers. As explained by Patrick Smith, a fourth-generation American hop farmer, the flavor of freshly-picked hops used in beer is impossible to compare.
Watch the inspiration for Beer Advocate and Sixpoint’s first annual Beer For Beasts festival. The event, held in late March, celebrates animals as a part of the family and of the community as a whole. All proceeds for the festival are donated to the Humane Society of New York, which fosters the better treatment of animals throughout the city.
Ever wondered what drove Norse warriors berserk? In their day, the Berserkers drank a potent elixir of herbs before a battle. Today, we might fuel up with coffee on a busy day, or relax after one with beer. Berserker Bock is the culmination of two masters of each trade, with Sixpoint teaming up with Stumptown Coffee Roasters to create a coffee bock lager. Choosing to cold-brew the coffee beans sourced by Stumptown’s Duane Sorenson, the brewers also cold-fermented the beer for a truly unique, smooth-tasting coffee-flavored bock.
Rooted in ancient tradition, recreated for modern times, Dr. Klankenstein is Sixpoint’s homage to the art of the stein beer. This Medieval style requires scalding hot rocks to be placed directly into the kettle, heating the beer from within to a boil. The project takes us from a foundry in Brooklyn where rocks are sourced to The Modern restaurant at the Museum of Modern Art, where the limited-time beer is served.

- The First Annual Sixpoint Holiday Charity Concert and Beer FestSixpoint Brewery and subculture in association with the Anything Anything Radio Show are proud to announce what is hoped to be the First Annual Sixpoint Holiday Concert and Beer Festival to raise money for our year-long charity partner, The Humane Society of New York. It will take place at subculture (45 Bleecker Street at the corner of Lafayette) on December 14, 2013 from 3pm - 7pm and feature 2.5 hours of live music and unlimited samples of 12 different varieties of Sixpoint beer. Every year, Sixpoint teams up with a variety of righteous people throughout the music industry on assorted projects and we thought it would be terrific to give a little back to celebrate a fantastic year and raise money for a fantastic cause. This year's event will feature a great up-and-coming R&B-based boogie-woogie rock group as our house band (we need to keep it a secret due to other commitments they have around that time, but we promise they are killer). We have also reached out to our friends in the indie rock and jazz scene and invited them to stop by and play a favorite holiday song or two. We will be confirming these acts via our Twitter and Facebook channels and adding them to this page in the days to come. The one thing we CAN confirm at this time is that you will get to enjoy unlimited samples of 12 different Sixpoint beers, everything from old favorites to new rarities. Following is the beer list (subject to change, but we don't think so): Crisp Lager Sweet Action Bengali Tiger IPA Oktoberfest Lager Resin Double IPA Global Warmer The Brothers Quinn Rauchbier Spice of Life Single-Hop IPA Apostle IPA Gorilla Warfare Coffee Porter The Incredible Mild (Small Imperial Stout) Mad Scientists #17 Tickets are on sale now for the early-bird price of $40.
